Dixi Throwbacks: Raised By Wolves AW15/16
Posted on March 19 2020
Awoo Dixi Fam,
As you can probably tell from what we post here and on Instagram, we spend a lot of time browsing Pinterest. And it's funny how often we'll be scrolling and see a throwback Dixi campaign photo from an old collection! This made us think we should do a series of blog posts reminiscing on our beloved past collections, and perhaps share some memories and stories about creating them!
Raised By Wolves was the first collection that I (Vicky) worked on when I first joined the Dixi team, so it's fair to say that it will always be a source of lots of nostalgia and magic for me! I know that the rest of the team would agree. If we were to pinpoint the moment that Dixi truly became Dixi and found its own little niche, it would probably be Raised By Wolves.
Raised by Wolves was the birthplace of our bestselling Choker - Skadi, Goddess of Winter & Of The Hunt. Skadi was one of the first magical lovechildren of our Boss Mama Amy and Keely, so she holds a very special place in our hearts.
Raised By Wolves was also the origin collection of our thorn series, with her chunky thorn band rings named 'Sweetest Sacrifice'. These later evolved into the Hysminai Series and became the essential Dixi sterling silver stacker.
Also pictured here is the mighty 'Omen' Labradorite Thorn Ring, and the 'Everlast' Rose Ring. Tag us in your photos on Instagram if you own any of these old Dixi babies!
Raised By Wolves was all about the blues and reds. Garnet, Labradorite, Fire Opal, Druzy, Smoky Quartz...
Our main Raised By Wolves Campaign shots were lovingly created by Samantha Feyen, and she beautifully captured the wild and beautiful and ethereal feel we wanted for this collection, with deep greens and reds evoking the fiery passion of a deep forest.
And who remembers the original Forbidden Love? You may have seen her return recently in the more affordable plated thorn ring version, but she was originally born in Raised By Wolves in all her chunky statement sterling silver glory, with both Garnet and Smoky Quartz stones. My Smoky Quartz version is still going strong.
And who could forget the classic "The Heretic" Crystal Double Point Necklaces. Shown here in magical Labradorite.
Yes, it's fair to say that Raised By Wolves still feels special to this day. You can probably see some of the stylistic choices born here that we still choose to use in our current collections, and you'll see them pop up time after time.
If you could see any of these old lines return, which one(s) would you choose?
Lots of love, your sisters at Dixi x
